Dharamshala is a city in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Surrounded by cedar forests on the edge of the Himalayas, this hillside city is home to the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government-in-exile. The Thekchen Chöling Temple Complex is a spiritual center for Tibetan Buddhism, while the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives houses thousands of precious manuscripts.

Dal Lake

Dal Lake is a small mid-altitude lake near the village of Tota Rani in Kangra district (Himachal Pradesh) in northern India. The name 'Dal Lake' is taken from Kashmir's Dal Lake.

Bhagsu Water falls

The Bhagsu Falls are situated 2 km away from McLeodganj. Set amidst lush greenery and nature in its most pristine form, these falls are majestic and grand and should not be missed by all tourists travelling here.This place is spread over a vast expanse of land and it takes around 4-5 hours to explore this region. Trekking is a good option and there are a few cafes near this region where tourists can find light refreshments. Shiva's Caf??ï© is also nearby which is very famous for its snacks and hookah. The way to this cafe diverges just before the falls and it takes a climb up stairs for around 10 minutes to reach here.

 

McLeod Ganj

McLeod Ganj is a suburb of Dharamshala in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is known as “Little Lhasa” or “Dhasa” because of its large population of Tibetans. The Tibetan government-in-exile is headquartered in McLeod Ganj.

Naddi

Naddi is a village in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is located at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level, in the upper reaches of the Kangra valley.

Triund

Triund is a popular picnic spot at a height of 2827 m. The area is on the foothills of Dhauladhar range and is 17kms from Dharamshala. The snow line starts at Illaqua, which is five kms from Triund. The breathtaking view of the mountains and the valleys makes Triund an ideal picnic spot and trekking destination.

Masrur Rock cut Temple

Fifteen richly carved monolithic rock temples sculpted in the splendid style of the Kailash temple at Ellora and dating back to the 8th century are to be found at Masrur, just 15 km south of kangra. Images of Ram Sita and Lakhsman can be found in the sanctum of the main temple.

New HPCA Cricket Stadium

The new HPCA Cricket stadium is one of the beautiful stadium with a picturesque backdrop of the mighty Dhauladhar snow peaks. The pleasant weather adds to the popularity and glory of the game and helps to attract more spectators to the ground who come. This stadium has a maximum spectator capacity of 20,000 and provides modern facilities, split practice sessions, new rehabilitation Centre, lounge, bar, restaurant, banquet hall which can house 500 odd people.

Tsuglagkhang Temple

The Tsuglagkhang Temple is the most renowned Buddhist monument in McLeodganj. There are three magnificent images of Buddha, including a gilded statue of Shakyamuni, statues of Valokitesvara and Padamasambhava.The Namgyal Monastery was founded by the Third Dalai Lama, and serves the Dalai Lamas exclusively. A unique feature of this monastery is its diversity of practice. Namgyal monks perform prayers and rituals of all the major schools of Tibetan Buddhism.

St. John in the Wilderness Church

This neo-gothic church was built in 1852 and is one of the most important churches in Himachal Pradesh. Located near Dharamshala and on the way to Mcleodganj, this church was built in dedication to John the Baptist.It is the oldest built structure of Dharamsala. This church was built in dense woods that is why it is famous as 'St. John in the Wilderness'. It is also the final resting place of Lord Ergin, one of the governor generals and also a viceroy of India during the British Raj. This church should not be confused with the church of the same name located in Nainital, Uttarakhand.

War Memorial

War Memorial is situated in the pine forests near Dharamshala town and the journey itself to this place is totally worth it. There is the beautiful GPG College which was made during British Era.This is the memorial which has been made at the entrance point to Dharamsala in the memory of those who fought for saving our motherland.

Tibet museum, Mcleodganj

This museum is located inside the Tsuglagkhang complex and has a collection of brilliant forms of Tibetan Art, which include history documents, pottery, handicrafts, paintings etc.This museum gives a tourist an insight into Tibatan culture and also the various struggles faced by them lately. The structure of the Tibet Museum is influenced by Tibetan architecture which is unique and innovative.

Trekking

There are different ventures or institutes which organizes treks here, you will be accompanied with well experienced guides and trekking experts.Triund is one of the trekking hills nearby Mcleodganj for a short trek. One can also trek across Minikiani Pass to reach Chamba.

Bhagsu nath temple

This temple is located at a height of 1770 m above sea level. Surrounded by beautiful pools and lush greenery, this temple attracts a lot of devotees and tourists throughout the year.The pools around this temple are believed to be sacred and contain miraculous powers of healing. The temple was built by King Bhagsu and is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Dalai Lama Temple Complex

Replete with Tibetan culture, Dalai Lama Temple Complex also known as Tsuglakhang Temple is a politico- religious centre in Dharamsala. Ideal for peaceful meditation and religious rumination, the temple is full of lamas at all points of the day chanting on prayer wheels or beads. The temple is in close vicinity to the abode of Dalai Lama and is frequently visited by him to preach and conduct prayer meets. Popular for its beautiful setting, the temple complex has become a revered pilgrimage site for the Buddhists. In addition to this, the peaceful environs and ataraxy attracts tourists from all over the world.

The smallest tea region of India, Dharamshala has beautifully lined and organized tea gardens across the Kangra Valley. It is known for its good quality tea and is available for purchase in many shops across Dharamshala and Mcleodganj.
